As expected really. We'll probably get the previews at SDCC in July.

I think I'm actually going to pass on this one [In reply to] Can't Post

I'll be in the air force by the time it's released anyways, and I'm a big fan of bonus material, which this release lacks. Will wait for the EE.

Comic-Con [In reply to] Can't Post

Was hoping we might get a preview of the EE. I do think we'll see that and of course something dealing with DoS at Comic-Con in July. So I plan to camp out the night before the big panel again.

It appears that way [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm not sure which version I'll go with. I like that Gandalf cover and usually the 3D ones come with the 2D version. If thats the only way to get the digitial version I'll do that. I'm surprised they're not doing multiple covers to be honest.

I got one of the FOTR theatricals, but didn't opt for the others after that. I just owned the Extendeds.

Air force, eh? [In reply to] Can't Post

Thank you for serving! Smile

I'm going to skip this one, too. Unless there's additional bonus features not being disclosed, it's not worth the price, IMO. All the vlogs are available online (unless they're planning to take them down?). Hopefully the EE has the same amount of behind-the-scenes material as the LOTR ones. I'll happily wait for that.

There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall and the bells in the steeple, too.

DVD covers [In reply to] Can't Post

Odd choice of covers.

I'd have preferred that Bilbo leaving Bag End teaser as the main cover.

Very odd that Beorn is on a cover as he wasn't in the film.

Bizarre.

I sold my LotR theatricals. [In reply to] Can't Post

I got them all, but sold them after the EEs came out. Haven't decided about TH yet. I am loving the movie less than LotR, but the skip button may work wonders.

The Beorn one was just a temp cover... [In reply to] Can't Post

...from months back (it even says "Artwork TBA"). It will not be used on any of the Blu-ray/DVD releases. Blu-ray.com just hasn't received the final art for the 1-disc version yet.

The new ones in the press release are... [In reply to] Can't Post

The new ones - the 2D cover with Bilbo, Thorin, Gandalf, and a few of the dwarves and the 3D cover with Gandalf are final covers.

But the Beorn cover for the single disc release is months old and not a final design.

It's nice... [In reply to] Can't Post

...for people that haven't seen them yet or for the collectors that want to own every media neatly packaged. As far as myself goes, they were awesome pre-release hype builders and i loved watching them but that's the past, i dunno if i'll ever watch them again. We'll get much more in-depth featurettes on the SEE that cover much of the same ground and more (at least i hope).

i watched them because i knew they would feel poor and lacking once extended dvds are released.

They are promotional material, for me. Not in depth documentaries.

Promo material [In reply to] Can't Post

One of the reasons I wasn't wanting them to be on the blu-ray. They were shot and edited to build up to the film, not to look behind the scenes afterward. I mean, lots of stuff was blurred out because we weren't meant to have seen it at the time. I still think they're great and look forward to the ones for DoS and TABA, but I also want some real documentaries in the same vein as the LOTR ones.

Yeah, but it's not like the Lord of the Rings dvds were any different... [In reply to] Can't Post

The theatrical editions for those films were the same - promotional material, trailers, etc. It wasn't until the extended cuts that we got more in-depth material.

Watching documentaries with things er dont really see after we have all seen the film is weird.

But like my previous poster says, it was similar with the lotr dvds.

That's true. [In reply to] Can't Post

But then, I guess I'd rather have all the good stuff all in one package than to have to buy two copies of the same movie to get all the good bonus material, so it works out.
