ME? no.. no idea. That would Altaira's question to field.

If I were a betting woman I'd bet 'no plans'. It sounds like they tinkered with a basic setup to get us the tweaks and features we really wanted and, at this point, continued tinkering is not only labor intensive but might put the stability of the platform at risk.

Makes sense [In reply to] Can't Post

Since you were in the conversation I thought I'd ask you.
And out of all the non-Altairas/PTB, you seemed like the most likely to know. Thought you might have asked them at some point, since you seem to field editor questions a lot.

Well, TH has left my local theater [In reply to] Can't Post

And the round trip to the nearest theater still showing it would add too much time. But, I do appreciate what you say about taking care of myself so I can better care for my dad. I have been wanting to have a mani/pedi, facial, or massage; I think I'll take some Christmas money and try one sometime. Smile Maybe while listening to TH soundtrack. Laugh

Thanks for the concern. Smile

Thanks for the encouragement :) [In reply to] Can't Post

I think I probably will have to wait for TH to come out on DVD, but I'll be sure to try to do something that will recharge my batteries. Smile

And thanks for reassuring me about the bird poo, etc. Laugh As much as I've wanted to see TH, I was becoming a bit wary after reading some of the details. Glad to know it's still fun and enjoyable despite some excesses. Smile

Sigh [In reply to] Can't Post

Being busy and a little broke has been a factor, yes... but I actually drove by a theatre in time to get in (the short) line for the early (10pm) release on December 12. I had the time and the money just then, but decided against it. I've not felt the urge to see it since.

The first reason is because some of the things that happened during the production were unethical, to me profoundly so. As such, I did not want to support the production lest I feel as an hypocrite. However, since many people whom I admire have seen it with a clear conscience, that's good enough for me.

Also at some point I realized that the LOTR movies and people and things related to the movies had become like idols to me. I wanted to prove to myself that was no longer the case -- I am now satisfied that they are not.

Lately, as in just in the last couple days, I've decided that I should see the film, if for no other reason than to be able to keep up with discussions with my friends. I mean even some people who hated LOTR went to see AUJ so they would have informed opinions about it (and some of them even found it to their liking). In any case, if I do end up seeing it this week (I don't think it's going to hang around too much longer) it is more out of curiosity than it is desire. I'm okay with that.

(For the record it is still on at two multiplexes here: at one, which literally was just built for TH opening, it is only available in HFR IMAX and HFR 3D; at the other it is available in 3D and 2D. Haven't decided which version to see. If I only see it once, which is likely to be the case, I kind of want to see it in 2D to eliminate the possibility that HFR 3D won't agree with me. On the other hand, purely so I have a basis of comparison, I might choose HFR 3D.)

Now I have to ask, how do you feel knowing you have missed the theatrical release?

Well Sir Dennis [In reply to] Can't Post

For what it's worth, I initially didn't want to see The Hobbit, but I am glad now that I did.
But, further to some of our other conversations, you might find this interesting. Questioning the "100% Pure NZ" campaign is not a popular thing to do it seems.
Public Address is a great site. They have done some really interesting coverage of the earthquakes and the ongoing issues with insurance, if you feel like trawling through the archives.

I hope you do see The Hobbit and find yourself able to let go of all that other stuff for a few hours. I was delighted to find that this was what happened to me. The moment the titles came up on the screen, something lovely happened.

And I'm working on finishing up my contributions to the geeky observation list asap!

Actually, I'm going as often as I can because my theatre manager told me they can only promise it will still be here until January 10th. *checks calendar* TIME is running out!
