cool cool [In reply to] Can't Post

In Reply To
Too many weird anatomical distortions, including vertical slit pupils in widely spaced eyes, and a nose that looks more appropriate on a camel than a canid. But it's better than the hyenas.

The slit eyes to me do look a little non-wolf like. But I'm glad that it wasn't just a completely full set of glowing eyes like it looked in the trailer. I think that would have been awful.

But it seems I'm in the minority about the wargs in the trilogy. I didn't really have a problem with the design. I actually thought they looked cool. Yes, I would have liked them to look more wolf like in the head but they still had a canine type of appearance.

My problem with the ones from LOTR though is that it seems like they spent a very minimal amount of time on the CGI with them as compared to almost everything else in the trilogy. Eveyone states that PJ didn't like the design but if I remember correctly it was actually that he felt the CG was rushed on them and that's what he didn't like about them. I could be wrong though.

Anyone want to help clarify? And does anyone feel the same way?

Wink Very ferocious looking.

That's what PJ has said [In reply to] Can't Post

Like you, I didn't mind the wargs from the trilogy either. I find hyenas absolutely terrifying, so the mixed hyena-wolf design worked pretty well for me.

As for PJ's dissatisfaction, yes, you are correct. What he has said on the matter is that he would have liked more time to storyboard and develop the warg scene (which I also enjoyed; again, a minority position), as it was a chaotic shoot and some portions of its development were rushed.

3. Naked PJ cameo as Ghan-Buri-Ghan
2. Use of not only 3D, but smell-o-vision, plus the inclusion of axes coming out of the seats and poking the audience when appropriate
1. Not only keep the claim that Thorin & Co. ran amok in Mirkwood "molesting people", but depict said incident in vivid detail!!!!!

I still like the idea that these are pure-bred Wargs out of Angband... [In reply to] Can't Post

while those of LotR had been cross-bred with a hyena-like animal from Far Harad.

would make proper TH Goblins.

How ironic that TH's goblins ended up looking like his Morlocks!
