The wolves [In reply to] Can't Post

The wolves look like the dogs/wolves from nazi zombies *in the face*- the side game in call of duty . Very similar - finally figured out where i had seen them before!

why is it that... [In reply to] Can't Post

the characters look better on the shirts than they do in the trailer? If they can make them look this good on film I might relax a bit...Wink

Wargs [In reply to] Can't Post

This is the best view of the wargs that I have seen. They look really scary here. The reflective eyes add to the spookiness. Thanks for pointing these out.

Could the Wargs be the same Warg, transforming in the moonlight? Werewolves? Unimpressed

Great find [In reply to] Can't Post

But it's funny sometimes when there is so much random merchandise with 'The Hobbit' on it (like earlier mentioned bedclothes). I can't help but wonder if Tolkien would have liked to wear Hobbit shirts and have a Hobbit blanket draped over his head. Smile

Right [In reply to] Can't Post

And concept art often looks a lot better than the final designs.

I love the concept art for the Star Wars prequels, for example, and generally hated the look of all three films...

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

There are hints [In reply to] Can't Post

that the Warg that leads the attack near Moria in FotR is a werewolf.

Sauron himself was a werewolf when he was Morgoth's sidekick.

Tolkien seems to have werewolves pegged as a form of fallen Maia, like balrogs, rather than human skin changers. He never calls Beorn a werebear.

Details on the Radagast shirt [In reply to] Can't Post

Looking closely at the green shirt with Radagast in the forest, notice there are two butterflies in the image. Is this a nod to the butterflies in mirkwood, or to the moth from LOTR, or is it just coincidental promo artwork? Also, is that a bird (or other animal) on his shoulder, and perhaps Rhosgobel in the background?
