It has been recently confirmed by insiders [In reply to] Can't Post

That there will be 3 months of pickups next year, largely focusing on the BoFA.

But was PJ really just talking about that?

Somehow, I don’t think so — aren't pickups just reshoots?

Why would Jackson have to go back to the studios to request more shooting for something he’d already planned? He wouldn’t.

That said, I don’t we should expect to see a flashback of Glaurung coming to the Nargothrond. :)

Maybe we’ll see Galadriel cleansing Dol Guldur during the War of the Ring, though.

…all eyes looked upon the ring; for he held it now aloft, and the green jewels gleamed there that the Noldor had devised in Valinor. For this ring was like to twin serpents, whose eyes were emeralds, and their heads met beneath a crown of golden flowers, that the one upheld and the other devoured; that was the badge of Finarfin and his house.
The Silmarillion, pp 150-151
while Felagund laughs beneath the trees
in Valinor and comes no more
to this grey world of tears and war.
The Lays of Beleriand, p 311

Yes please. Perhaps that's where the Phial comes in.

Frodo has it then, though.

Cleansing of Dol Guldur [In reply to] Can't Post

I've always thought that they will just move this event from the War of the Ring to the defeat of the Necromancer, as there doesn't appear to be any threat to Lothlorien from Dol Guldur in the films.
