Is this speculation or based on your insider knowledge [In reply to] Can't Post

If it is the former, I would be surprised to see it be true. If it is the latter, I still would be surprised to see it be true. I've never seen a second trailer six months after the first be a rehash of the first.

Question [In reply to] Can't Post

I think that kind of question has already made MrCere question whether he should be here for now. Maybe best to not ask?

That would be dramatically disappointing... [In reply to] Can't Post

And surely, 6 months after the release of the first trailer, the production has enough finished footage to cobble together into a new trailer, no?

However, it would explain the similar running time, the lack of announcement, and the G-rating. This may just be a G-rated version of trailer 1, perhaps excising the scene of Bilbo smoking his pipe...

If true. Disappointing. Disappointing. Lemon. Disappointing.

This is my hope [In reply to] Can't Post

And what I would very much be happy to see occur.

In Reply To
..it has been given a G rating that tells me there is a good chance it will be released with Brave, WB are obviously targeting a "family audience" initially and then it will be released again for the TDKR targeting the PG, PG-13 crowd.

Oh, I don't doubt [In reply to] Can't Post

that Bilbo will dominate. He's the host of this party, after all, even if he isn't the one who planned, oranized, threw or sent out the invitations to and arranged the events schedule for it,Wink. That said, The Old GuyAngelic is needed to help put the new guy in context for everyone, so he should be showing up. lol.

In Reply To
But rather than show the old guy, its a chance to get people interested in the new guy. Gandalf will surely have trailer time. And hey, I am just guessing at what I would do and nobody is hiring me anytime soon. (But they should!)

It can't be cut-down. It's the same length... [In reply to] Can't Post

I checked those other trailers, they don't include the 6 seconds of green-strip at the start of the trailers. The first trailer was 2:30 with the strip, 2:24 without...

Need more evidence?

I think the same trailer is being re-rated to a G. False alarm, I'm afraid.

That the same trailer has just been re-rated or perhaps they've changed the writing "Next December" to "This December" (although I don't know why the rating would change...)

Because the two trailers are exactly the same length... http://www.albertafilmratings.ca/...includetrailers=True

I wonder... [In reply to] Can't Post

Whether they've changed the clip of, say, the trolls to something more child-friendly to bring the rating down so that it can be attached to Brave? If this is the case, it could already be online somewhere...

I'd still wager it's a new trailer [In reply to] Can't Post

If it were the exact same trailer (with a change from "next December" to "this December"), it wouldn't have been able to be re-rated. The ratings board wouldn't take a PG trailer and change it to G just for the sake of it. If they previously determined the content to be PG, and it's the same exact content, then it stands to reason that a re-release would get the same rating.

Unless, as postulated, they have merely replaced the pipe-smoking and/or troll-rushing shots with ones that are a bit tamer.

It says trailer #2, after all! Wink And, I'm pretty sure WB wouldn't be happy with just one trailer for a blockbuster like the Hobbit. Plus this seems like quite an appropriate time for a second one to come out. Smile

I'm worried that it's a G-Rating [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm optimistic that we will get a new trailer rather than a repeat of the one we already have seen. But the G Rating is kinda worrying me. I checked the guidelines on the ratings on the Alberta website and it states that they give a PG for (and I quote) "Many adventure films, comic book adaptations, and science fiction films fall into this category, such as the Harry Potter films, the Twilight Saga, the Iron Man films and The A-Team (2010)."

My guess is that The Hobbit DOES fall into that category ... so I can't understand what the content of this trailer could consist of ... just walking and talking?

In that case, I'd rather wait a month or two more until a more, definitive trailer is released.

TH teaser has been playing for six months [In reply to] Can't Post

If they release what is ostensibly the same teaser, they run the risk of overexposure...people in the theaters going "oh no, not this again". At least a new trailer will raise some excitement with some new material...

Like everyone else, will be immensely disappointed if this is just a rehash/slightly modified version of Trailer 1, but the signs are there that this may nothing special...we'll see.

My Top 5 Wish List for "The Hobbit"
5. Legolas will surf down Smaug's neck
4. Bilbo will be revealed to a Robot
3. Naked PJ cameo as Ghan-Buri-Ghan
2. Use of not only 3D, but smell-o-vision, plus the inclusion of axes coming out of the seats and poking the audience when appropriate
1. Not only keep the claim that Thorin & Co. ran amok in Mirkwood "molesting people", but depict said incident in vivid detail!!!!!

me too Arandir [In reply to] Can't Post

I dont think we'll be seeing any goblins, azog, trolls or fighting because surely that would fall under frightening images and violence which would not be suitable for younger children.
Im not sure what will be in the trailer, my guess is WB is trying to market the film to as wide an audience as possible to make as much as possibe so bringing a family friendly trailer out with Brave will let people kow about The Hobbit being the big film for all the family this christmas.
I have a feeling I will be a bit dissapointed as I really wanted a big, epic trailer with glimpses of Trolls, Orks, Azog, Spiders and suchlike, having said that I havent seen the trailer yet! so I hoped to be proved wrong.
Also The dark knight rises now hase 4 full lengths trailers so theres no reason WB wont do the same with The hobbit.

I don't think that was responsible for the PG rating [In reply to] Can't Post

It is more likely that a smoking Bilbo is the culprit, and/or the brief shot of Bifur with the axe in his head (quite a violent image, if you think about it...)

If I were to hazard a guess (and I am about to) I imagine we may get the same trailer, with a few shots swapped out for tamer ones. It seems very unlikely that they would re-rate the exact same trailer.

If this is the case, we may at least see a couple new shots. Better than nothing...

Not necessarily [In reply to] Can't Post

Tintin didn't have the Hobbit trailer when it was released elsewhere earlier than in the States, but it did when it was released here.
