I know this was posted the other day... [In reply to] Can't Post

This is off the main topic - but for those curious about FIGWIT check out this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adCbKyqPTR4

I'd never seen untill last sunday, someone kindly posted the links in a previous topic. It's a great documentary. I'm a massive Flight of the Conchords fan and i didn't realise for a long time that Bret was in Lord of the Rings. (I know, shame on me)...

Not likely seeing Saruman or Galadriel in Rivendell then. [In reply to] Can't Post

We'll probably meet them in Lothlorien or somewhere east of the mountains.

"Before she returns as Galadriel, they will reprise their production at Washington DC's Kennedy Center in August."

So we won't be seeing Blanchett (Galadriel) in NZ until after August. That should give us a pretty good indication as to when they are going to film the White Council scene/s.

New Zealand is a long way from home... [In reply to] Can't Post

...for many in the cast, particularly the principal actors. Filming over a long period is therefore scheduled to allow breaks for the actors to return home, and possibly even undertake other projects (such as Freeman's work on "Sherlock" and the theatrical gigs McKellan mentions). The length varies for each actor, as they aren't all needed all the time, and can be anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.

Not even just that... [In reply to] Can't Post

This production seem interesting in how much room they've given their actors to commite to other projects. Peter and Co have cleary pulled strings and made the schedules work so that he could get the actors he wanted... It's pretty cool

hiatus [In reply to] Can't Post

So a hiatus is a break...hmmm. I read all the replies on the break. Are there moments that there will be no filming at all? Or will tere always be some filming action.

How was this at the time of the lord of the rings?

filming during Freeman's hiatus [In reply to] Can't Post

I have no doubts that other filming will occur while Martin Freeman is working on his other stuff. There's location coverage, there's crowds of extras... basically what I mean is, believe it or not, there's footage he won't be in. Wink

a strange Gandalf [In reply to] Can't Post

as Merry well said to Pippin about the fact that The Wizard is very lack in words and explanations (well, hobbits on the other side like to talk too much Crazy ) and in the book Pippin try to take the most of him after Helm's Deep victory when he was riding to Minas Tirith on Shadowfax, so in TH Gandalf should talk just the necessary while the real Gandalf (Sir Ian McKellen) loves (4 us joy) to tell us as more as he can and in a ironic style, that's why I really like him Wink

This makes me wonder when {hopefully} Christopher Lee [In reply to] Can't Post

and the White Council scenes will be shot. If Cate is not around until the end of summer, I wonder if they will still be able to shoot Christopher Lee's scenes. If he has to wait until late summer, I am worried. But, I have to trust PJ and company to schedule things as he can and plans to do. With Martin gone....what scenes are there without Bilbo? Dwarves in captivity, hanging in webs, running through Moria, in Erebor, on the walls etc.
In addition, some of the Dol Guldur scenes can be shot.
Whatever Radagasts role will be is tantalizing.

That made me think... [In reply to] Can't Post

If PJ & company are being so lenient with actor scheduling I find it interesting that Ronan couldn't fit other commitments with TH filming. Still not sure what to make of whatever that whole situation was.

Her other projects... [In reply to] Can't Post

...might have been too demanding. She said TH would require most of a year; if her alternatives were also equivalently demanding, it wouldn't work. I don't think major actors can take off more than a few weeks at a time; actors in smaller roles have more flexibility.

This is what made that whole Ronan/Itaril thing so scary: the implication that Itaril is a pretty major role.

I think there must be [In reply to] Can't Post

much more leeway for the stars of the movie than for the smaller parts. Gandalf and Bilbo are the most important characters, and worth scheduling around. Everyone else? Not so much. You can't schedule around everyone or the filming would never get done.

Silverlode

"Of all faces those of our familiares are the ones both most difficult to play fantastic tricks with, and most difficult really to see with fresh attention. They have become like the things which once attracted us by their glitter, or their colour, or their shape, and we laid hands on them, and then locked them in our hoard, acquired them, and acquiring ceased to look at them.
Creative fantasy, because it is mainly trying to do something else [make something new], may open your hoard and let all the locked things fly away like cage-birds. The gems all turn into flowers or flames, and you will be warned that all you had (or knew) was dangerous and potent, not really effectively chained, free and wild; no more yours than they were you."

Both Cate Blanchett and Hugo Weaving will be at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, for almost all of August (4-27) this year in the Sydney Theatre Company's Uncle Vanya:

The funny thing about Figwit for me... [In reply to] Can't Post

I have worked with kids for a long time, so I have to watch my language. It's very hard to find words that work when feeling in the mood for saying something really inappropriate. So I started saying Figwit! I can't stop now, and I use it more than most of my other made up substitutions for explatives.

Poor Figwit. At least the guy has a formal name now!
