no shame in being got... [In reply to] Can't Post

I still remember the april fools day in 2003 when they announced ROTK would be delayed 6 extra months. I was depressed all day. Then I figured it out like 3 days later...they never got me again!

True, but [In reply to] Can't Post

He'd publicly stated how upset he was about being removed from LOTR, so it seems pretty insensitive.

Pranks by their very nature are cruel. [In reply to] Can't Post

I personally could care about Stewart Townsend's removal from LotR. I am certain that Peter had good reasons and Viggo Peter Mortensen Jr. certainly enhanced the cast.

well, it wouldn't be a TORn April Fools prank ... [In reply to] Can't Post

... if it didn't offend at least a third of the people reading it. They seem to hit that mark pretty consistently.

A very cruel prank [In reply to] Can't Post

I can't imagine what it must have been like for Mr. Townsend when he was sacked through no fault of his own.

Yikes [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm not a long-time member of TORN, so this one caught me by surprise.

If this really is April Fool's, I gotta admit - for me, it's an awkward choice at best on the subject matter.

The only details I have about the Aragorn switch for LOTR are PJ's comments from the behind the scenes extras on the extended edition DVDs. So, I don't know exactly what happened. And trust me, I'm thrilled that Viggo ended up with the role - I cannot imagine anyone else in that role - his commitment and investment into the process was/is outstanding, as was his performance.

BUT, it just seems in poor taste to throw this out there publicly and then have it be April Fool's. It's clearly a sensitive topic for folks, and I wouls assume especially for Mr. Townsend.

And, if it's a double fake-out - uh, okay, but still think another topic would have sufficed for an April Fool's.

Yes, I admit, I got pranked for a minute there... [In reply to] Can't Post

If I must be upset by this prank it´s mostly because I could really need to her some real casting announcements by now! Unsure

My understanding is that it was "creative differences." [In reply to] Can't Post

Maybe that counts as "through no fault of his own," but it happens in the acting industry all time. An actor wouldn't last long if he couldn't cope with it happening to him.

To play this sort of April fool 'joke' reflecting on individual actor's careers (both of them) without their express permission would be more than poor taste to me. In fact unnecessarily disrespectful and damaging - especially dragging up the casting problem again with Stuart T.

Surely there must be better material for a funny practical joke?

Yeah. I heard that it was kind of that he wasn't in essence a "team player" [In reply to] Can't Post

and you know how PJ was trying to get folks that "got along" for that long of a shoot.

But it was a decade ago, as has been said-- I may be misremembering. But I don't think so.
