Glad you got through what you needed to... and I hope you're feeling better! As for the weekend, I've got a great band to go see, and then the usual Doctor Who viewing party with my best friends. :) Oh, and I'll be doing some work on my reviewing site, too (both on the actual site itself and on a review or two). And remember what I said about the temperatures here? Well, yesterday they went from needing-a-jacket to downright hot! (So much for Spring, LOL. :P ) *So*-- for this week, at least :) -- I'll go back to having a Spring/Summer Usual. Thanks, and I hope you all have a great weekend! :)

I'm here in Glasgow, having a fabulous time. Rehearsals going well, sun shining, and it's great to be back in the land of the shining river. Also, went to a fun party on Tuesday night, which was a premier party for a new independent movie with Billy Boyd in it, called 'Pimp'. I didn't get to see the film so I can't comment on that, but the band who feature on the sound track - The Stagger Rats - played at the party and were excellent. Also I had a nice wee chat with Billy, who was as charming and friendly as ever. So good times all round! Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'm off to see Mr Crowe in 'Robin Hood' tomorrow - must just remember not to criticse his accent...

I really like that map. I may have to order it for a certain Kiwi I hang around with as a little surprise (shhhhhh..). And, what a great bonus to have your neighbor give you that wonderful little collection. I'd say you had a pretty darned good day - perfect for putting the stress of the week behind you and starting the weekend out right. *hugs and congrats!*

Yes, please, oh elf with the strong but elegant hands I've had a sinus infection all week and am at the stage of having recovered from the infection but have yet to recover from the antibiotics. (No digestive problems, though.) We're meeting the grandkiddies and their parents at Disney World next week, so I'm hoping to be back in form by then. I'll have a bottle of vitamins, please, bartender! *stuff tip jar with Mickey Mouse ears*

I tried not to go too crazy with the spending when we visited Weta Cave, but the map I had to have! Going to get it framed, I've picked out a nice spot for it in the dining room!

Well I really did enjoy it but of course it is a bit different from both the sil and LOTR...

The writing style itself is quite different I felt but not in a bad way. It made me speculate whether Christopher may have contributed more than he indicates in the preface. I suppose since it is much more a narrative than the Silmarillion which is more of a high level historic account it should be more like LOTR in the writing style. But even there it differs... I guess I would say it is right in the middle, between LOTR which is intended I suppose to sound as if it were an account written by a hobbit and the Silmarillion as an account written by the elves in a much abbreviated form to account for many thousands of years of history. The story itself is very dark due to the subject of Hurin and the curse on his family, but I absolutely LOVED reading this fleshed out version of the Silmarillion's account. I found myself wishing I could have a more detailed account of various sections of Lord of the Rings in similar fashion... the level of detail I am thinking of would of course never sell books but I'd love to have a volume 10 times the size of LOTR packed with the 'what happened in between' and 'trivial conversations that occured between the important stuff that made it into the books.' Just wishful thinking of course, but Children of Hurin did in a small way fulfill that wish (though I could think of other portions of the Silmarillion I'd have rather seen fleshed out more fully.)

I LOVE Disney world. We honeymooned there (and at the Kennedy Space Center), and had a complete blast. No Mickey Mouse ears, but BG did buy and bring back a Goofy hat with long ears that hang down from it. I've been keeping it safe at the back of one of our closets. Have a grand time!!
