He even sounds like him. The way he says "a howling gale from France!" in this clip. It's pure Bilbo! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqiZRJd7xIo Still trying to guage his height, but no idea if that's a medium height or shorter actress he's standing next to there, so very tricky. _______________________________________

Hugh Bonneville isn't that short, he is 1,87 meter or 6ft1,75in. I don't know how they are going to film the hobbit, but I think they try to cast Bilbo shorter than the dwarves. Ofcourse if he can act they should consider him.

Same height as me. Well, everything else about him is so perfect compared to names suggested so far who are more in the right height range, it'd be a shame if it ruled him out of the running. (and didn't Matthew Goode audition for Bilbo? He's quite a tall fella, I recall.) No idea if the Bilbo casting call sheet says in the small print words to the effect of: "Only actors in the 5 ft - 5 ft 8 bracket need apply" the heightist, swines! But I'm still in camp Hugh. He exudes Bilbo-ness from every pore. ________________________

Well, he does look a bit like him. And I will appreciate it if they cast an unknown. But I won't pick a side. As long as it isn't McAvoy...

HB has been discussed quite extensively and favourably on these boards before... as a quick serach for 'Bonneville' will attest. Personally, he'd be my choice for Bilbo, with Freeman a close second. At this late stage though, I don't doubt Bilbo has been tested and cast - and only a Stuart Townsend-like situation or protracted delays will alter whoever they already have in mind. [here's hoping though!]
