Remind me of some of the beautiful photos I see on dA. Are they your own or just found on the internet?

Some are mine but most were found in my endless search in the internet.

The file size of many of those is still far too big [In reply to] Can't Post

Unfortunately, I had to delete all the pics with filesizes greater than 50k. I left the links you provided to the biggger pics.

Really, as Magpie suggested, by far the best way to show a bunch of pics is to provide one link, in one post, to your site. Even with the pics > 50k deleted, this thread viewed in 'flat mode' (which some people use so they can see the entire thread at once), has several megs of pics that their computers have to load. So, making many posts of a few pics each really doesn't help. Thus, part of the reason we ask that people limit the file size of their pictures as well as the dimensions.

They're all beautiful pictures! Just please conform to our guidelines and link to your site whenever feasible.

Thanks!

I hadn't thought of that when I first saw the picture... [In reply to] Can't Post

but that is a great interpretation. If I could turn those leaves to golden I'd say it was a shoe-in. Again, it's very evocative.

I had to look up the origin of it [In reply to] Can't Post

...since I didn't have a clue.

http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-sho1.htm

Quote

[Q] From Holly Young: I love your site and have found it most helpful in many instances. I was wondering if you could possibly find out the origin of the term shoe in, meaning someone will win for sure.
[A] This one is spelled wrongly so often that it’s likely it will eventually end up that way. The correct form is shoo-in, usually with a hyphen. It has been known in that spelling and with the meaning of a certain winner from the 1930s. It came from horse racing, where a shoo-in was the winner of a rigged race.
In turn that seems to have come from the verb shoo, meaning to drive a person or an animal in a given direction by making noises or gestures, which in turn comes from the noise people often make when they do it. The shift to the horse racing sense seems to have occurred sometime in the early 1900s. C E Smith made it clear how it came about in his Racing Maxims and Methods of Pittsburgh Phil in 1908: “There were many times presumably that ‘Tod’ would win through such manipulations, being ‘shooed in’, as it were”.

Mirkwood from 2006 [In reply to] Can't Post

I hope it's okay for me to post pictures here too! The post just made me think of these pictures I took 3 years ago (when I'm only just started my photography studies, I'd probably do them more justice now) while walking through a forest near where my partner comes from. It made me think of Mirkwood, so I hope they work for you, too. Smile

And I loved the ones before, very moody!
