THANX!!! [In reply to] Can't Post

I might consider replacing Vinnie Jones and Jorge Garcia. Vinnie Jones seems too big and muscular for the rest of the cast I've chosen and I'm not sure if Jorge could pull of that Welsh lilt accent that was done so well by John-Rhys Davies. I chose Vinnie because I just couldn't think of anyone else and Jorge because......well.......he's rather large and Bombur WAS after all, the fat dwarf.

Wow, that' s horrible.....

I feel bad now.....

Jorge, if you're reading this, I love you man......LOST is my favorite show......

I liked Jorge paired up with Jack Black and Simon Pegg as Bifur, Bofur and Bombur, though. I thought they would make a pretty funny comedy trio for the film's comic relief element.

The rest of my fantasy cast is pretty solid, I think.

PLAY LOTRO!!! Find me, Ermanatar Silverleaf of Dale on the Silverlode server!!!

Richard Armitage for Hobbit film [In reply to] Can't Post

In Reply To
posted here are all i have to go by. never seen him in 'action'. but if he's forty, he looks great. i wouldn't have put him past thirty.

He's in his 30s.

I have seen him in action. He's a great actor. Better than loads of better known ones, imo.

yeah, fairly certain... [In reply to] Can't Post

that's the beauty of individual perception...
he could be cast as either race & it wouldn't necessarily make an entire world of difference.
he doesn't appear rugged or Bard-y to my eyes...he looks to me to be of fair Elven race.
people just see different things...
I'm sure whomever is cast in any of the speculated roles, whether they match any of the above suggestions or no, the director will also have seen something different still.

Oi Vey! [In reply to] Can't Post

So many actors, my head hurts!

I've never seen Martin Freeman in anything but from his looks I think that would be a good Bilbo!
As for Bard I'd probably want Christian Bale, from what I've seen he can pull off the grim/pessimism pretty well to be Bard.

With Smaug I have like a million and a half ideas, but I saw this movie called Dragonheart when I was little and it was always one of my favorites and the dragon in the movie is voiced by Sean Connery and he did a magnificent job, I thought. So I think it would be neat for him to be the voice for Smaug.

As for everyone else I'm pretty open for whatever GDT thinks is best.

Off topic, but yay my first post.

You're right, oneminutetomidknight... [In reply to] Can't Post

...Richard Armitage is all man. He's altogether too masculine and sexy Wink and IMO looks too big and 'mightily thewed' for an elf (mmm... those shoulders and thighs Blush). At the slight risk of repeating myself Wink, he would make a perfect Bard.

He does 'grim' so well...

...and he looks formidable with a long bow.

Plus... he's got THE VOICE (sorry, can't post a picture of that!)

Below are two casting suggestions in one: Bard (Richard Armitage) walking beside the Great Goblin (Keith Allen). They could save money casting Keith Allen as the goblin king because he wouldn't need much make-up...

Bill Nighy! [In reply to] Can't Post

I simply love him, he was great in PotC and he was also quite funny in Love, Actually (he was actually the main reason I enjoyed that movie!)
I'd definitely want him to be in the movie somehow, not sure if I picture him as a dwarf though.

The Voice : Smaug [In reply to] Can't Post

The Voice for Smaug :-

Well it`s goto be Christopher Lee! or..Anthony Hopkins ! ...... Both are Icons of evil, plus having the upperclass English accent or welsh if it was Anthony Hopkins for playing these type of parts ...
Plus Anthony Hopkins being Welsh has a strong connection with: Dragons...both would do this role justice...Wink

Too many famous actors. [In reply to] Can't Post

Personally I feel that some of these casting suggestions are a bit out of line, such as Russell Crowe as Bard or George Clooney as Smaug. What worked so well in LotR movies was that most of the actors were not "Hollywood stars", and when you looked at the characters, you did not immediately associate them with the image of that star, you associated them with how they were presented on screen as these characters.
So, here are some of my suggestions:

Bilbo: I like James McAvoy, simply because I think he looks like a hobbit and he is good enough actor (after watching him in Atonement, I am convinced he can be a great lead for this movie), I also like the idea of Ian Holm coming back for narration.

Bard the Bowman: Jim Caviezel. I like this suggestion because I think he is a good actor and he also looks the part.

Thorin: Brian Cox, easy one for me, I think he has good authority in his voice to portray Thorin, looks good for the role as well.

Smaug (voice): Jeremy Irons.

Dain: Ray Winstone

Beorn: Ray Stevenson

Thranduil: Kenneth Branagh

Great Goblin: Ron Pearlman

Bolg: Doug Jones

I agree that big stars should be limited.. [In reply to] Can't Post

I've been looking at little noticed actors with a new eye recently and wondering...who would I pick for Bilbo? We recently watched all 8 Seasons of That 70's show for the first time and curly headed Danny McMasterson has caught my eye. He seems like a really well-balanced guy who has some handsome hobbity good looks hidden behind all the sideburns, sunglasses, beards and moppet hair. I wonder if he has an ear for accents? The thought seemed so perfect that it made me check to see if they had actually cast Bilbo yet. For some reason, I get the feeling he's yet to come into his own. I was watching some interviews with him, and he really looks older than he is and could easily play a 40 year old hobbit. I know he certainly can do some gorgeous close-ups. His eyes are just as blue as can be and have a wonderul hobbit twinkle to them when he talks. Something you never got to see in the TV series. Yea, I think we should watch out for him soon. In his early 30's he ripe to play a nice leading role and really put some guts into a role like Bilbo. I really would like to see someone do a hobbit who has acting depth. Of course..EW did a great job for such a young actor, but Bilbo had so much more angst and desire for adventure than Frodo..I'd like to see him with a little bit of an edge to him.

..
