I looked at the FOTR posters, and if I have my directions right (and I won't look *this* up), then the answer would be

I think they're going south on the river which means (she puts imaginary map on the floor and faces south on it) that east is the left hand side of the bank.

Although I can't claim it as 'closed book'. I'm mostly having fun with my own inner need to be completely right. And I would be completely right only by devoting large amounts of time to checking and rechecking. It's fun, sometimes, to do that, but by rights I shouldn't even be here... so I will show my capacity for growth and not only post an answer I'm unsure of... I'll waffle on my answer a whole bunch of times. So *not* the old obsessive me that I know so well.
(And I'm also trying to be chattier since I've been pretty reserved up till now at TORn)

I looked at screen caps and couldn't tell what the left hand one was holding, then I thought to get our models of the Argonath and he is holding an axe. Very hard to see and tell what it is, it blends into his sleeve. So I am saying axe!

The Main Man, who seems to think this is a gesture of humility but isn't fooling anyone. 3. Who gives Pippin a leg up into Gandalf's cart at Bilbo's party? His partner in crime. 4. What kind of lettering was used to inscribe the words on the one Ring? Elvish script, which is uncomfortably beautiful for the Dark Lord, but he couldn't be bothered to invent his own. 5. What weapon's in the hand of the Argonath statue on the eastern riverbank? Lessee, which way is East, again? They're moving South... The guy on the right (West) has a sword (Elendil and Narsil, I presume, movie-verse). I can't see a weapon on the other one (presumably Isildur). 6. What large outdoor set in FOTR was built on an old army base? Must be Hobbiton. Rivendell was in a park, and I don't think anything else qualifies as a 'large outdoor set' in that movie.

Well, if you're looking at it as the camera passes it in the movie, it's a sword in Elendil's hand... on the opposite shore, it's Isildur with an ax.
6. What large outdoor set in FOTR was built on an old army base?
I don't remember this... As far as I know, the only full sets actually built for LOTR that were not built on car parks were Rivendell (in the middle of a park) and Hobbiton (on a farmer's land), unless you mean Bree, but wasn't that also built on a car park?

To me, a set is something complete (like Hobbiton & Rivendell)... Amon Hen & Weathertop is not a set, but rather a location shoot because it just involves a few props. So I have no idea what weaver means by that question.
