An aside: did you notice yourself in my picture? :-D [In reply to] Can't Post

I mean, that delightful drawing of you as the second statue of our 'New Argonath', along of course with PJ as the first statue (see Ataahua's posts), which was drawn by someone in Wellington (a real artist cum journalist, as you can see!...), and then very nicely reproduced by our dear TORnsib Grammaboodawg, at my suggestion!!! Cool
How do you like it?

Agree with you... but what about all that beauty, right here?... [In reply to] Can't Post

That's what our dear JRRT was secretely longing for, and in his own way anticipating, with his firm belief in an Earthly Paradise long ago, and another one to be re-established on Earth, once Arda would be at last 'Unmarred' from even what has been called 'Morgoth's Ring'?...

Um, no. :) [In reply to] Can't Post

It was just a general reaction to the hilariousness of this whole discussion.

Regarding Iluvatar's reaction..."going too far"? Nope, He'll be too busy munching popcorn. And asking for more. "Yanvanna (?), I counseleth and chargeth thee to getteth thy Butt in gear and make haste to groweth more corn to pop. And whilst thou art at it, please telleth the rest of the Valar to getteth a life."

I think most longtime posters on here have figured out that I am NOT a purist. *grin*TongueAngelicCool

And BTW, I am NOT implying that the purists don't have lives!!!! (We wuvs ya, Brigand, really!)

I totally agree [In reply to] Can't Post

The world ending is gonna have to wait until the credits have rolled and we have all stood up and cheered for the greatest movie of that year! Then it can happen.

P.S. Of course it will be when I have my popcorn in my hand and I'm walking out of the theater gushing about how GDT is brilliant and better be ready for all of those oscars he is going to win.

P.S.S: speaking of oscars did you all see how every actor reacted when LOTR won like 17 oscars?

And I'm thinking I'm going to have to watch my copy of the Oscars again. I love to look at their faces as more and more awards are racked upl

Oh sorry [In reply to] Can't Post

the mayan calendar says the earth is gonna end in 2012, yet several years ago I was told by a clairvoyant that I was going to live till I was 96, which will be 51 years after 2012.

So if the mayan calendar is correct, I'm gonna outlive the earth by 51 years.

Cheers Kelvarhin x

By the Maya long count exactly... mark your calendars!

Othe rgroups mention it is actually a cataclysm or the change of an era (Age if you will Tongue) A prophet Catholic saint (do not remember who exactly) mentions a change in the world, in which roughly 3/4 of the people will perish, remaining only the just people, who will sparkle a period of a thousand years' peace in the world.

It's an interesting topic, with much literature coming out nowadays from both thriller and New Age writers. There's a movie coming out, by the director of ID4 and 10,000 BC (Emmerich I believe).

Here's to Del Toro becoming the Irvin Kershner of Middle Earth!

2012..... [In reply to] Can't Post

Although it would make for interesting times, I don't place much faith in the Mayan calendar for deciding the fate of the world, anymore than any other calendar, during the "new age" movement awhile back the Mayans were touted as being very peaceful....but read their history and what they used those giant temples for....

yet, environmental disasters are shaping our way of life....but there is hope....just saw a promo in the movie theater for a series out this fall...Greensberg, Kansas, totally destroyed by an F5 tornado...will be rebuilt using green technology, and the debates and rebuilding will be chronicled in the series....awesome....

Greensburg KS [In reply to] Can't Post

Hubby and I have been following that on planetgreen on tv. Hubby is from a small town not far from Greensburg and much of the town was destroyed. You just never know what is going to happen with natural disasters on the horizon. Since I live in WY they are always talking about the big Volcano in Yellowstone which is 1 1/2 from my front porch.

Scary stuff!

Giant caldera [In reply to] Can't Post

Wow, well you live in a beautiful area but yes, Yellowstone is sitting on top of a supervolcano! I've been there and it is hard to think that the whole area could blow up at some point, and I hope it does not happen anytime soon. I hope your husband didn't lose any friends or family in the tornado...I admit to being fascinated by severe weather and watch tornado vids from stormchasers...my late stepfather was the central planner in the redevelopment of Xenia, Ohio, after a twister devastated the town, and it is interesting to think that Greensburg, just decades later, has the chance to rebuild using the newest green tech, which wasn't around when Xenia was hit....
