Hope your birthday cake doesn't melt in the heat. Sly

Sad News. :(

With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed.

Larry LaPrise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey" died peacefully at the age of 83. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started.

"I stepped out of my body to let God slide in; although I'm still dressed in flesh that I spiritually died in. Alive in Christ a new creation started breathin', Life exists and through this came completion. ... I'm not that person anymore (more!)! That's what blood was shed for! No longer a failure, livin' life more abundantly, therefore you'll never see me livin' less than victory."
John Reuben.

"Under a light in Bethlehem, I was sifting through the sand; the saline burned my eyes, I was looking for Your hand. I gave up on myself, and left my pride disarmed; I cried out 'I'm alone!' and found myself in Your arms. 'Rest in Me, oh, My love; I have loved you before the world began. With the new unemployment figures just released, it's not the best of times to be forced into redundancy either ...

Sending you both lots of light, luck and wishes for a better future prosperity with loads of security.
I really hope something comes your way quickly and its perfect for you both.

A tall, cold iced tea please! [In reply to] Can't Post

No particular plans this weekend. I'm going to dinner with some ladies from the office tonight. Sort of a networking, get-to-know-you kind of thing. I'm looking forward to it.

Otherwise, I'm hoping to have a relaxing weekend And hoping the neighbor's *&^%$# carpool doesn't honk right under my window a 6:30 a.m. tomorrow, like they did today. Honestly...

**raises glass in honor...** [In reply to] Can't Post

What was your Dad's favorite drink? A tall glass of that to you, and to all, in memory of a fine man who earned his daughter's love and respect.

Your Dad sounds like he was quite a guy -- I'd love to hear a story about him if you'd like to tell one. Let us know more about him and about that sense of humor of his, and the ways he showed you he loved you. What was he like?

We're supposed to reach 90 today, and it's humid. We had quite a thunderstorm last night about 3 am. The lightning was almost like a strobe light, just constantly flashing.

Today I celebrate a different geekiness [In reply to] Can't Post

D&D 4th edition is released today! After work, I'll be going to our local gaming store, where they're holding a 24 hour gaming event. It statred at 10am today and will go all night untill 10am tomorrow. My fianc้ is there already, and we will stay for the whole thing, then at 10 tomorrow the official D&D Game Day starts, with geeks everywhere playing the first 4e published adventure. We'll also be there for that... so on that note I'll have a virtual Mountain Dew or a Red Bull Gramma (I don't like either IRL, but I'll need the energy somehow Crazy)

Oh and on Sunday we'll still play our regular 3e game. Cool

Cheers to your 'wonderful dear sweet Dad' [In reply to] Can't Post

Defy awya. They are totally inaropriate to suggest that whether overtly or covertly, suggestively, behaviourly or elswise.

Grief is grief. It takes as long as it takes, it goes though its own process and stages in its time.... that is in our time. People who try to stop other people from feeling their feelings, whether grief or anythign else, do so to stop the flood of their own repressed feelings... its about them and their history. Their are wonderful books and groups out there for grief support.

So, honor our self and you dad and your life together and the life he still has in you heart and will always have.
