Welcome to a very special Fiesta Friday 25 years ago, our Fearless Founders created what has become our favourite place to share drinks and stories here at Fiesta Friday! It just so happens, this sweet 25th falls on the 26th where we can give it a proper toast! It's also the 15th Anniversary of our first Founders Day celebration for our four brilliant Founders! SO… please feel free to share some stories or to just raise a glass of your favourite drink and enjoy TORn and this special day. Grab a snack, too! What can I get ya? *rubs mug with tea-towel*

I didn't discover TORn until after the first movie was released, but I understand this place - the Original Boards - were quite hopping in those early days with rumors of all sorts! May I have a mocha java to go, please, gramma? Thank you for all these goodies, I'll take a slice of that pizza as well! Just waiting for my menfolk to finish packing, we head soon to the Berkshires to spend the weekend with his family for their Mom's memorial service. I'll raise the mug to The Founders, and to you and your daughter also, gramma, may her healing be swift and well!

The pieces are small... so you get a bunch! I wasn't around before the Fellowship's release either, but that activity afterwards was INCREDIBLE! :D Safe passage on your trip. I'm so glad you're all able to gather for the memorial. Bitter sweet, but she's bringing the family closer together once again :) *hugs*

I found TORn a few months later, maybe July. I'd heard the rumors about a live-action version of LOTR and went searching on the Internet for information. Never expected to stumble onto a haven for other LOTR geeks like me! That first year I remember as being rife with casting rumors, and we had some very, er, lively discussions about how we felt about Ethan Hawke as Faramir and Uma Thurman as Galadriel, or Sean Connery as Gandalf, or Russell Crowe as Aragorn. Proposing dream casts was a fun exercise.

That's the the only thing I can think of that you earn by turning 25. Wishing everyone who makes TORn TORn a very happy 25th and happy Founder's Day! Such an amazing milestone and a testament to the community given how much things both online and offline have changed over the years. I stumbled onto TORn I think in the immediate post-LOTR years but only mildly browsed here and there, until the Hobbit movie chatter around 2010/2011 turned me into a more persistent lurker. There's been of course many highs, but I think what's held firm (to me) is the special lightheartedness that TORn folk bring to this site. :) *raises glass* Happy Founder's Day! It's a bit gloomy/chilly here this weekend, but we'll be outdoors both days at a couple of community festivals, so I'm crossing my fingers we get some sunshine in the end. We may also try to catch Dune 2 in IMAX one last time before it leaves theaters. Wishing everyone a happy weekend!

25 years is a most excellent age for a fansite of very best quality. Cheers, everyone! I have a four-day weekend because Thursday was Anzac Day (recognition of Australian and NZ soldiers who fought at Gallipoli, Turkey in WWI, and all other wards since then) and I took yesterday off on leave. Today has dawned bright and cold so I'll be off soon for a nice long walk on the Coastal Walkway, to stretch the legs after a reading day yesterday (I'm still getting through The Sunne in Splendor). Have a great weekend, everyone!

What a lot of experiences have been shared and friendships made in that time. I wish I could remember exactly when I joined TORn - that's lost in the mists of the old boards - but I think I was fairly well into it shortly after FOTR came out. The first Sibs I met were Frogmella and Trinity the Purple, when I was down in London for work, then (in no particular order) Eledhwen, River Woman, Cheshire Cat, Arwenelf, Induhvidual, Belethdelothiel, Probono, Roheryn, Draupne, Hengist - there were more, I'm sure, but the names escape me. We met up for the Howard Shore concert, the Science Museum exhibition and the Edinburgh Fringe. Cheshire Cat and I saw Sir Ian McKellen as Widow Twankey at The Old Vic too. Happy days! This evening I've been to a 60th birthday party, the first proper party I've been to in ages, so I'm tired now - a total party pooper! The buffet was good (though not as pretty as that owl salad!) so I'll just nibble on a brownie and have a cup of hot chocolate before dragging my weary body to bed. I never did have much stamina but now it's beyond a joke! Still, I met and chatted with some old work contacts, which was good. Cheers, folks - sweet dreams!

Wow... to meet up for Howard Shore's concert, the Science Museum exhibition... and so much more! There really is nothing like moots with sibs! What an extreme switch to a 60yo b'day party ;) BUT everything is relative... and I think the era of your partying is pretty equal in effort ;) I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I still remember first encountering TORn way back in 1999 when searching for more info on the movies that were to be made, my first experience of Message Boards. It's a wonder and a gift that TORn survives after a quarter of a century. Over those twenty-five years I've met some wonderful people, many in the physical realm and others via the 'net, and count you all as friends. TORn has brought new depths to the love I've had for these books over many decades. I raise a glass to you all, to the Founders, and to TORn. Here's to the next twenty-five years!

There are too many. It just popped into my head that today was the day! (after finding an old leaf I drew for the 15th anniversary). The ice cream sandwiches look good. Ice cream always looks good. It's nice to see a few familiar nicks still hanging around. I'm retired now and am learning how to live life in the slow lane - and loving it. Here's to the Founders and the great times we had here over the years. It was the best of times. cheers, all.

So wonderful to see you here. Happy 25th, and congrats on your retirement! Hope to see you around a bit; and if you feel like it, take a peek at the Reading Room. We've got a Shire discussion going, with a special discussion post next week by Curious on the subject of trees.
