Difficult to say.
I remember quite early there were some reports about the show being about 'who's the only person the ring has no effect on'. Which would mean Sauron, though it could still be about Sauron during his captivity in Numenor. I would have guessed the war of Sauron and the Elves though. Again have to wait and see.
On the positive side, if the show does include Isildur as a main character, we are almost certain to get the downfall and the last alliance.
