Although to be honest, given the fact that both the Shire and the Gondorian year dates where slightly out of kilder to ours, it could really be any date around late March the precise anniversary, still good to honour it. Also, thinking about it, Gondor's new year from that time started on this date. I wonder if Tolkien took this into account when making dates? Also, lets hope that this years March 25th heralds better tidings than last years bitter spring! ...by Tolkien's best estimate, our March 25 would have fallen on the Shire-date of 2 Astron (or 2 April), excepting leap years. 25 Rethe in the Shire Reckoning would have coincided with our March 18. I'm not sure exactly how that works with the Steward's Reckoning of Gondor.
