It's time for some BS!

Here's a collection of Book Spoilers that describe the Grey Havens... for a moment of Tolkien-zen.

From the Prologue: Concerning Hobbits: The Fellowship of the Ring

.. "...the Elves of the High Kindred had not yet forsaken Middle-earth, and they dwelt still... ...at the Grey Havens away to the west, and in other places within reach of the Shire. Three Elf-towers of immemorial age were still to be seen beyond the western marches. They shone far off in the moonlight. The tallest was furthest away, standing alone upon a green hill. The Hobbits of the Westfarthing said that one could see the Sea from the top of that tower; but no Hobbit had ever been known to climb it....
... ...Elves, who seldom walked in the Shire, could now be seen passing westward through the... ...ancient East-West Road [that] ran through the Shire to its end at the Grey Havens....

From ERIADOR, ARNOR, AND THE HEIRS OF ISILDUR: The Return of the King

.. "'Eriador was of old the name of all the lands between the Misty Mountains and the Blue; in the South is was bounded by the Greyflood and the Glanduin that flows into it above Tharbad.
'At its greatest Arnor included all Eriador, except the regions beyond the Lune, and the lands east of Greyflood and Loudwater, in which lay Rivendell and Hollin.... ...At the Grey Havens dwelt Cirdan the Shipwright, and some say he dwells there still, until the Last Ship sets sail into the West. In the days of the Kings most of the High Elves that still lingered in Middle-earth dwelt with Círdan or in the seaward lands of Lindon. If any now remain they are few....'

From Of the Rings of Power and the Third Age: The Silmarillion

.. "In Eriador Imladris was the chief dwelling of the High Elves; but at the Grey Havens of Lindon there abode also a remnant of the people of Gil-galad the Elvenking. At times they would wander into the lands of Eriador, but for the most part they dwelt near the shores of the sea, building and tending the elven-ships wherein those of the Firstborn who grew weary of the world set sail into the uttermost West. Círdan the Shipwright was lord of the Havens..."
... [Cirdan says] ...my heart is with the Sea, and I will dwell by the grey shores, guarding the Havens until the last ship sails...'
... ...White was that ship and long was it a-building, and long it awaited the end of which Círdan had spoken.... ...the Keepers of the Three Rings rode to the Sea, and Master Elrond took there the ship that Círdan had made ready. In the twilight of autumn it sailed out of Mithlond, until the seas of the Bent World fell away beneath it, and the winds of the round sky troubled it no more, and borne upon the high airs above the mists of the world it passed into the Ancient West...."
