AUJ Chapter of the Week (CHOW) Sign-up for September & October!

Chapter of the Week (CHOW) is a new discussion on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. For the months of September and October, we need SEVEN VOLUNTEERS. Each host will make one thread each week on their chosen film chapter (ideally within the weekend - anywhere between Friday to Sunday inclusive).

The weeks available are as follows UPDATE The leaders are:

1. Weekend of September 13th - Prologue - Ardamírë
2. Weekend of September 20th - My Dear Frodo - arithmancer
3. Weekend of September 27th - Old Friends - Silwen Peredhil
4. Weekend of October 4th - An Unexpected Party - Queen of Erebor
5. Weekend of October 11th - Dinner Time - Cirashala
6. Weekend of October 18th - Thorin Oakenshield - FaramirAndEowynMorningStar
7. Weekend of October 25th - Bilbo's Choice - Brethil

Volunteers choose their chapter on a first-come-first-serve basis, so get in their quickly if you want to host a particular chapter. Just respond to this thread with which chapter you would like to host. We will be asking for more volunteers for the rest of the chapters at the end of October. So if you miss this sign-up, don't worry! There are plenty of chapters left. If in doubt which chapter is which, consult your DVD (hopefully you own it, or PM either cats16 or DanielLB.)

Each person will be assigned a DVD chapter, seen above. For your chosen chapter, we will leave the discussion up to you! It really is an open book, so we don't want to restrict anyone. Some suggestions might be:

- The use of CGI in the scene (or even HFR, if you can remember what it was like)
- The score and the soundtrack
- The props, sets and landscapes in the scene
- The costumes we see in the film
- The actors and acting
- General scene setups
- Differences from book
- A comparison with animated film
- A comparison with The Lord of the Rings films

You can ask as little or as many questions as you like. Have fun, and enjoy!

You can also choose screencaps for your part, and we recommend this
website. Magpie has provided an excellent tutorial in image posting on TORn that can be found here. Please also make sure all screencaps stay within TORn's Term of Service (see 2.20).

When posting your thread, please include "Chapter of the Day: [Insert Chapter Title Here]", so that they are easy to find on a rather fast moving board.

We hope you enjoy all the discussions.

(Refer to
this post for more details concerning CHOW that may not be addressed in this thread.)

Quick add on: Of course, don't volunteer for week 1 if you're a little unsure of the format we're going for here. If you're comfortable go for it!
