The main reason I have watched the movie so many times is because a love it. The funny thing is I did not really expect to like it this much. I was excited as a Tolkien fan, but 3 hours of Bilbo seemed a little too much. That all changed when Martin Freeman started acting. I could watch him act Bilbo all day. Then, of course, there is Richard Armitage acting Thorin; it completely changed the way I ever thought of Thorin. The whole cast is fantastic. I think the other reason I have watched it so much is because my teenage kids like Tolkien almost as much as I do, and I have enjoyed watching it together with them. Also, I think AUJ is kind of my happy place, no major characters die and you don't yet have the sadness that will be inevitable in the TABA. I don't think I'll be watching TABA that many times on the big screen. At home, I always forward Boromir's and Haldir's death. LOTR was different for me because my kids were very young and I did not have the time to go to the movies very much, so I only watched each movie once when they came out. As it is, we watch them all the time on DVD and if there is a special showing at the theater we would not miss it. We saw the 10th year anniversary and of course the LOTR marathon. So much fun! I wish they had it every year. I love watching it on the big screen.
