Tolkien published two works of "The Adventures of Tom Bombadil" one published in 1934 and one in 1961, I am now curious if the 1961 edition is simply a re-hash with some additions or if it is new.... any thoughts would be appreciated... i am reading through some of Halfir's stuff one note he contributes to this: "So in the 1930’s the actual character of Tom – outside LOTR had started to develop, and by 1937 Tolkien was suggesting that the somewhat comical character could be taking on a far more serious form. To be continued" essentially what I was trying to get at
