I think it looks close enough to a wolf, with the different features giving it a slightly more distorted, demonic appearance

Such as the nose, which makes it look a little creepier, IMO. I think, if you showed a group of people this still, most of them would be able to correctly identify this creature as a wolf because a few missing physical characteristics don't change the wolf-like appearance that drastically.

Besides, they are referred to as "demon wolves", not just wolves. Perhaps being inhabited by an evil spirit does things to your anatomical structure. :}
