It's too bad time travel hasn't been invented yet as the crew could simply go back to when Ian Holm was younger and shoot it with him anyway. Unless they end up picking up someone magically good, Holm will forever be ingrained in my mind as THE Bilbo. So far, few of the names I've heard in speculation have really done it for me. Martin Freeman comes close, but I doubt he'll be cast. Regardless I am super stoked about the casting process and can't wait to find out who's playing who. x3

That's the same with me. I simply cannot imagine anyone else as Bilbo except Ian Holm. He is...well, he is Bilbo! :) I do hope they try and keep some continuity and pick someone who looks a little like a younger Holm, and then with make up added, someone we could at least "buy" as Holm's Bilbo. I think that's going to be the toughest sell for me is to accept anyone else as Bilbo. It's going to be a lot to put on an actor, and I feel for whoever ends up being cast...he's going to have a lot of weight on his shoulders, that no one else really had in LOTR. Heck I know people who aren't even big fantasy fans, but LOVED LOTR, in large part because Holm's performance in Fellowship really drew them into Middle Earth from the get go. They were hooked for the rest of Trilogy.
