There are bound to be growing pains in this production. Working from a bare bones story line is an immense challenge. The opposite situation exists for Amazon's other big franchise Wheel of Time - it has to be chopped down....but at least the entire text is there.
The challenge of finding writers capable of realizing the vision and bringing forth the story must be immense. When you look at current fantasy writers, I cannot think of one who comes close. Yes, some are good at building worlds, magic systems etc. but none that I have ever read or heard about comes close. So, to find a group of people who can do it is a monumental task. I think it may take one strong writer to craft this story rather than a team. Who that could be - I don't know.
