This is Book Spoiler is continuing our look at Elves and Men in The Silmarillion... for a moment of Tolkien-zen.
From Of the Coming of Men into the West: The Silmarillion

Therefore she thanked Caranthir, but answered: 'My mind is now set, lo, to leave the shadow of the mountains, and go west, whither others of our kin have gone.' When... ...the Haladin had gathered all whom they could find alive of their folk who had fled wild into the woods before the Orcs, and had gleaned what remained of their goods in their burned homesteads, they took Haleth for their chief; and she led them at last to Estolad, and there dwelt for a time.
