A tough one

is the Game of Thrones fandom. Folks there have understandably gone through one or multiple cycles of grief, knowing there's a decent chance they never see anymore of the core Song of Ice and Fire books (or maybe 1 more book but not the conclusion) that got them hooked. It makes me think "how would we behave if we just didn't have ROTK?"

I'm sure there's oodles of toxicity there due to other aspects of that story's world/themes too, but I've seen plenty purely due to the fact that the fandom has sort of attacked itself - and now and its creator - over the years, due to various versions of denial, coping and anger over the main story not being complete.

But it's like anywhere else online, I suppose - there are the crazies, the semi-crazies who are still articulate, the crazies who masquerade as normal, and the normal people who slowly go crazy trying to tolerate them all. Laugh
