"Clear your calendar starting in March, Mr. Perlman"

I won't say how I got an inkling of that quote. but it may have some basis in truth. It isn't going to be like LOTR--a solid family of actors drinking, eating, sleeping and breathing Tolkien for more than a year--rather, it's going to be like an airline with actors shuttling in and out of the country on a regular basis. Unlike LOTR, this thing seems to be coming together piecemeal. I hope a "family" atmosphere--where you can see and feel the chemistry on the screen that only comes from long months of livng together and becoming a family--is palpable onscreen for TH just as it was for LOTR. I am sure Mr Perlman is having loads of fun watching other actors chosen for TH and yet managing to squeeze in time to film other projects. How long does it take to prep for a film that is supposed to start shooting this summer? July or August? Even after filming Sons of Anarchy, that would have left him what, 3 months or so to prep. Or do whatever. The clueless idiots at Universal had better green-light ATMOM, NOW so Del Toro can begin filming it this summer as promnised. But I have a hunch they're dragging their feet b/c an R rating for any film these days is a kiss of box-office death for a popcorn release, 3D or no. ATMOM isn't exactly Oscar material. Not for BEst picture anyway. And Del Toro won't budge on showing all the relevant scenes in ATMOM and so can't tone down the film. Sorry if this post sounds bitter but I can't stand the thought of Del Toro's brilliant crew, the techies and such, standing idle while TH begins. Oh, I;m sure some of them aren;t idle, but I mean, if they're bidong time to work with him. It's obvious now that Ron would have indeed played Beorn. I wish this guy luck, but I wonder how long it took to find him and if it was a joint Jackson-Guillermo decision. He'd better knock our socks off. And Ron had better have sa MAJOR role in ATMOM, he'd better be Tom Cruise's sidekick if not better, or I'll have something to say to the suits at Universal. I want their pain over this to have been somewhat worthwhile.
