Man folks don't realize that the 1978 Superman movie was not the first. Even if we discount the two Superman chapter serials with Kirk Alyn, there was Superman and the Mole Men in 1951, starring George Reeves and Phyllis Coates. This was a feature-length theatrical release that was later re-edited as a 2-part episode of The Adventures of Superman television series.
