I discovered that one branch of my ancestors came from Pill. In Somersetshire. Pill, according to John Wesley, was "a place famous from generation to generation, even as Kingswood itself, for stupid, brutal, abandoned wickedness."
My ancestor married a woman his parents did not approve of and emigrated . . . to get away from them, or from Pill, is not recorded.
So were they Pillians? Pillites?
