Really helpful for a Tolkien layman

Thanks for that link.

As an enthusiast but not much of a student of expert of Tolkien, I found that a very interesting read. I hope other people can find it buried down in the depths here.

Maybe you could create a thread - 'A case for PJ's Hobbit with potted history' Laugh
