I think its biggest rival will be RotK

When you look at what's to come in DoS I think PJ may have a valid argument, particularly bearing in mind we really get to delve in to the appendices in this movie! We get Mirkwood, Beorn, Laketown, Dale and Smaug, not to mention Gandalf's journey to Dol Guldur and the Necromancer. What's not to look forward to?! AUJ was all about setting the story up, introducing us to the characters, etc. As far as I can tell TABA will primarily focus on Bo5A which, don't get me wrong will undoubtedly be huge as is the style of PJ's battles, but other than that and closing the story off I can't see what else it could look at. That leaves DoS with all the action, storylines, key character introductions and main locations!

However looking at the middle story within the LotR trilogy, The Two Towers, it was quite a different story. TTT was the book that connected all the puzzle pieces and really carried the story in to the third book. All of the action happens within RotK, which as a result has meant it's gone down in history as one of the most successful movies of all time.

That's my opinion! To summarise, I think it's only rival will be RotK.

I personally cannot wait for DoS, but then PJ never fails to disappoint me. He could turn TH in to 10 movies and I'd still watch each one!
